Twenty years ago, any Greek wine was a rarity.  Now no decent wine list would be deemed complete without at least Assyrtiko from the island of Santorini.    The renaissance of wine making in the country, about which so much was written in ancient time, is an absolute joy to see and taste.  Our tasting includes Greece’s finest indigenous grape varieties from many of its most accomplished wine makers.

The grapes and regions in some cases may be a challenge to pronounce but the wines will repay the effort.  Here is the line-up :-

Island of Crete – ‘Dafnios Vidiano’, Douloufakis, ’21.

Peleponnese (Mantineia) – Moschofilero ‘A Priori’, Novas, ’22.

Thessalia (Epanomi) – Malagousia, Gerovassiliou , ’21.

Island of Santorini – Assyrtiko ‘34’, Karamolegos, ’20.

Central Macedonia (Sithonia) – ‘Limneon’, Porto Carras, 19.

Peleponnese (Nemea) – ‘Grande Cuvee’, Skouras, 21.

Central Macedonia (Thymiopoulis) – ‘Terra Petra’, Rapsani, ’19.

Central Macedonia (Naoussa) – Xinimavro, Dalamara, ‘21
