It’s no longer quite so easy to dismiss the idea of “good Greek wine”. The days of nasty Retsina are long gone and the Greek wine scene now is positively bubbling with gifted growers and Greece’s own impressive arsenal of wonderful, unique and distinctive grape varieties.
Of course, it doesn’t help that both grapes and regions are unfamiliar to most of us – and in a different alphabet! But both repay time and tasting. Now that we can access delicious and accessibly priced Greek wines much more easily here, we can explore the modern face of a culture of winemaking to which we owe so much.
Time: 7.00 to 8.15 pm.
Presenter: Pippa Hayward and Sandy Leckie.
