The Pfalz is Germany’s second largest wine-producing region. In the south-west of the country, on the border with France, most of the wine produced is white. The range of grape varieties planted is similar to that of Alsace. Riesling predominates. Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris are on the increase. Silvaner, Gewürztraminer, Kerner, Müller-Thurgau and Morio Muskat make up the balance.
